Things to do in Chaclacayo
Carretera Central, or the Central Highway, is my favorite. You can spend a relaxing and sedate weekend or weeks in Chaclacayo, where there are several restaurants Cecci' Pizza is a good place to wine and dine. Chosica, or Santa Eulalia, accessible on the left just before the bridge to Ricardo Palma, is a narrow valley of apple and avocado orchards, even several stone ruins further up the valley and, now, lots of restaurants and riverside picnic grounds. Back on the Central Highway, there are several restaurants further east at Ricardo Palma some of the restaurants have playgrounds that reach the river.
For a more adventurous day, pack a picnic lunch and drive further up the valley the scenery becomes more dramatic the higher you go. There is access everywhere for good walks and for mountain bikers.
For those who enjoy driving , you can easily reach the highest point of the highway, at Ticlio, as a day trip.
The "Jorge Chavez International Airport" (LIM) has all kinds of services , a modern airport has to offer. It is 45 minutes away from the city of Chaclacayo.
The best way to view the beautiful landscapes of Peru is by using a taxi or your own car, or a tour buss.
When using a taxi ask for fare price before taking the service. Using an established taxi company is highly recommended you can get a taxi with a phone call. Using taxis, other than the yellow ones, is not recommended. No tipping is advised. Taxi fares from Jorge Chavez International airport to the city of Chaclacayo are between S/ 50. and S/80.
Winter starts Lima by May and it ends between November or even Decenber. Temperatures beginning to rise but we will still be seeing our fair share of cool, gray and dull days before the end of November.
Though temperatures rarely drop below 14º Celsius in Lima, the 85%-plus levels of humidity along the coast of the city make it feel much colder (you will find that the humidity is decidedly lower in Chacarilla, Camacho and La Molina).
What really saps your enthusiasm is the lack of sunshine, particular if you are used to sharp light whatever the season. From May through November, Lima can be covered for weeks on end in a blanket of pale gray cloud that effectively blocks out the sunshine. It can be very depressing, and even Limeños have moaned about it in poetry and prose.
- Look for the sunshine -- Do as Limeños have always done, and head for the hills as often as you can to CHACLACAYO
